02 — Why her
Not the cheapest, not the most certified. Just unusually well-matched to one specific person: an English speaker living in Medellín who is tired of being the quiet one at dinner.
Lina worked five years in English for US clients — she can explain the subjunctive in plain English when you're stuck. But she rations it. English is the ladder; the point is to kick it away by month three.
This is the lucky part of landing in Medellín. Paisa Spanish is slow, fully pronounced and famously easy on a beginner's ear — and Lina was born into it. You're not learning a textbook dialect you'll have to unlearn: you're learning the exact Spanish spoken by the woman at the tienda downstairs.
Most tutors sell you a Wednesday 19:30 slot you will miss four times out of ten. Saturday afternoon, Sunday before dinner: that's when adults actually show up. Consistency beats intensity, every time.

03 — How it works
You talk, she listens, she works out where you actually are — not where a placement test says you are. You leave with a straight answer about your level and a plan. If it's not a fit, she'll say so and recommend someone else.
Not a textbook. The real list: the conversations you keep avoiding. The arrendatario, the EPS, the portería, the group chat you read but never reply to. That becomes the syllabus.

05 — Where are you now
Most people living in Colombia wildly under- or over-estimate their Spanish. This is a rough placement, not an exam — and whatever it says, your result travels with you to the booking form so Lina can prepare before the first call.
06 — Classes
Everything includes the plan, the shared notes doc and corrections between classes. Paid by Nequi, Bancolombia transfer, Wise or PayPal. Cancel 12 hours ahead and it costs you nothing.

07 — Who she is
Lina is from Medellín and never left. She trained as a teacher, then spent five years doing something that turns out to be excellent preparation for teaching adults a language: talking to stressed English speakers on the phone, all day, and making herself understood.
“The people who learn fastest aren't the clever ones. They're the ones who are willing to sound like an idiot for six weeks. My whole job is making those six weeks feel safe.”
She reads, she runs, she spends her Sundays with family, and she has a slightly unfashionable belief that teaching someone a language is a form of looking after them. She teaches on weekends because that's when she's fully hers — and she'd rather give you a real Saturday than a distracted Tuesday.
Classes are in Spanish from day one, with English available as a safety net. Her students are absolute beginners fresh off the plane, plateaued B1s who've been in Poblado for three years, and remote workers who need to stop apologising in meetings.
